Hello, and Welcome to Essential Oils Saturday!
Essential oils are pretty common, and most people use them as perfumes. But did you know that they can be used to help treat ailments? Today, we’re going to be learning about Lavender oil. This one is one of my favorites, because - like the amethyst - its uses are versatile.
First, it’s very important to stress that you should dilute essential oils with a neutral oil such as coconut oil or olive oil. If you use essential oils straight, you could end up burning yourself, and that’s no fun at all. So always remember to practice safe essential oil use!
So some of my favorite uses for Lavender include:
When I say minor burns, I mean you gently grazed the sizzling hot skillet and get a little blister, not any major burns. Just the little ones that you usually just dab with neosporin.
You can use Lavender to stop the itching after being bit by a mosquito (or 20… ). It works! Which is awesome, because for some reason, I get eaten alive!
Seriously, just smelling Lavender is really calming for me and does a lot to help ease my anxieties.
Also, and this is very important!, Lavender oil is toxic to cats and dogs. Please do not use it on your pets. They can’t process it. You can wear it if it’s in a place that they can’t lick you. You can defuse it in a room with an open window and your pets are able to be in another room. Just please do not use it on them, on their beds, litter boxes, or on their toys!
