Welcome to the first Mantra Monday! We’re kicking off the new content lineup today with a brief history lesson and a new Mantra!
So the use of Mantras is actually about 3,000 years old. Mantras are used in several Eastern religions and are viewed as sacred. It’s not hard to understand why. These Mantras carry powerful intentions and help to raise your consciousness and vibrations. I also believe this helps to alter our thought patterns to become more positive. Think about it: How many times in a day do you have negative thoughts?
When using a Mala, you are saying these Mantras at least 108 times as per the number of beads on a Mala. If you do this often enough with a Mantra, you will definitely begin to rewire your brain to think differently, effectively raising your consciousness and vibrations.
What’s the significance of the number 108? Some believe that it has to do with the distance of the sun from earth. The sun’s distance from earth is 108 times its diameter. Some speculate that the number 108 is a representation of the wholeness of life. Ultimately, the specific reason for 108 remains open for speculation.
Here is the first Mantra:
Sanskrit: Aham Prema (Ah-hem Pree-mah).
This translates into “I am Divine Love”. Say this 108 times using your Mala daily for the next week to help raise your consciousness and vibrations. What I do, is I speak the Sanskrit and then the translation on each bead so I remember what the Sanskrit means. It helps me to really feel the powerful meaning behind the words and really gets my energy flowing.
I challenge you to include this in your daily practice!
Have a great day!
